Geraldine “Gerry” Donnelly, 82, of Herculaneum died May 10, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Donnelly was the first city clerk for the city of Herculaneum, and she retired after working as the jewelry department manager for the Walmart store in Arnold. She volunteered for the Jefferson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Herculaneum-Pevely. She loved spending time with her family and helping others. She also enjoyed ceramics, drawing, painting, embroidery and cooking. Born July 3, 1939, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Celestine (Cunningham) and Simon Albert Richtberg.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years: James P. Donnelly Sr.
She is survived by two sons: James P. (Tina) Donnelly Jr. of Festus and Timothy W. (Kimberly) Donnelly of Festus; a daughter: Michelle D. Leon of Festus; six grandchildren: Ashley (Pat) Davis, Shannon Mitchell, Seth Donnelly, Austin Damkroger, Haley Damkroger and Katherine “Nikki” (Aaron) Buerck; and five great-grandchildren: Dalton, Emma, Kylee Beau, Jackson and Jameson.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers: David and Robert Richtberg; and a grandson: Timothy W. Donnelly Jr.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at First Baptist Church of Herculaneum-Pevely, 1315 Abbey Lane, in Pevely, officiated by Pastor Jeff Purvis. Burial will be in Herculaneum Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Herculaneum-Pevely or the National Kidney Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
