George M. “Mike” Schmaeng Jr., 75, of High Ridge died May 9, 2022, in High Ridge. Mr. Schmaeng worked as a skilled mechanic at TRW Trucking and Greyhound Bus. He enjoyed working with his hands and was an avid gun collector. Born Aug. 29, 1946, in Cairo, Ill., he was the son of the late Margaret (Webb) and George Schmaeng Sr.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Linda Schmaeng.
He is survived by his significant other: Patricia Rutledge of High Ridge; two children: Michael (Angela) Schmaeng of Richmond, Ind., and Michelle (Ben) Erdman of High Ridge; four grandchildren: Darian Schmaeng and Zachary, Kevin and Danielle Young; one great-grandchild: Kain Young; two siblings: Theresa Schmaeng and Richard (Debbie) Schmaeng of St. Louis; his significant other’s two children: Cindy (Roger) Bowen and Jerry Rutledge; her five grandchildren: Abby, James, Kole, Kennedy and Kinlee; and many other family and friends.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
