Gary Lee Cannon, 66, Festus
Gary Lee Cannon, 66, of Festus died Nov. 11, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Imperial and a building inspector for the city of Festus. He enjoyed woodworking, taking care of his yard, fishing and swimming with his grandchildren. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Born March 5, 1955, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Thelma Colleen (Gibson) and James Wilburn “Dub” Cannon.
He is survived by his wife: Colleen Renee (Bittick) Cannon, whom he had been with since the two were 16. He also was survived by three daughters: Lesley (Jon) Lalumondier of Festus, Katie (Tom) Exline of Arnold and Laurie (Joshua) Schmidt of Imperial; seven grandchildren: Garrett, Gracie, Grant, Eli and Evan Lalumondier, and Isaiah and Elijah Schmidt, and another grandchild on the way, as well as a brother: David William (Janet) Cannon of Pevely; a sister: Cindy (Adrian) Denbow of Pevely; and many other family members and friends.
He also was preceded in death by a brother: James “Larry” Cannon.
A funeral Mass was held Nov. 13 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Imperial, officiated by Father Daniel Shaughnessy. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Imperial or the American Heart Association. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
