Frances Nan McConnell Bequette, 80, of Little Rock, Ark., formerly of Crystal City, died Sept. 24, 2018, at her home. Mrs. Bequette was a retired real estate agent with Century 21, a former employee of the University of Arkansas Extension Service and a member of the Twin City Optimist Club. She attended the Good News Community Church in Festus. After graduating from Greenwood High School in 1956, she received a degree in home economics from the University of Arkansas, where she met her husband, the late George J. Bequette Sr., whom she married Sept. 23, 1960, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fort Smith, Ark.
Mrs. Bequette excelled at cooking and sewing, and enjoyed entertaining and traveling with her family. She is remembered as a dedicated mother who took an active role in her community as a substitute teacher with the Crystal City School District, a PTA member and a Girl Scout troop leader. Born May 4, 1938, on a farm outside Greenwood, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Emma (Beach) and Earl McConnell.
She is survived by two sons: Jay (Cindy) Bequette and Chris Bequette, both of Little Rock, Ark.; a daughter: Missy Bequette of Seattle, Wash.; a sister-in-law: Illma Ann Mack of Crystal City; four grandsons: Jake Bequette of Fort Benning, Ga., Sam (Lexi) Bequette of Pittsburgh, Pa., Joe Bequette of Little Rock, Ark., and Luc Bequette of Little Rock and Berkeley, Calif.; and numerous family members and friends.
A private funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 3, at St. Andrew’s Church in Little Rock, Ark. Memorials may be made to the Greenwood Public Schools or to Good News Community Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Chenal Funeral Home in Little Rock.
