
Florence Adele Ball, 90, of De Soto died Oct. 3, 1930, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Ball was a homemaker who had worked at International Shoe Co. in St. Charles, the Laura Mae Dress Co. and P.N. Hirsch. Born Oct. 3, 1930, in St. Charles, she was the daughter of the late Martha (Walthaus) and William Theodore Bova.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Earnest Clinton Ball.
She is survived by a son: Tim J. Ball of De Soto; a sister: Genevieve Dretta Johnson; three nieces: Myra Johnson, Barbara Shipper and Billie Jean Bova; two daughters-in-law: Maureen (Pete) Toews of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Susie Ball of West Monroe, La.; a nephew: Joseph E. Johnson III; two grandchildren: Angela M. Ball of St. Louis and Justin (Carolin) Ball Toews of Coconut Grove, Fla.; three great-grandchildren: Mercede Lynn Guffey, Jermaine N. Beasley and Joli Olivia Toews; and a great-great-grandchild: Nia Jay Cumpton.
She was preceded in death by two daughters: Beth Ball and Linda Adams; two sons: Ronald Elvis Ball and Byron Thomas Ball; a brother: William Theodore (Nettie Jean) Bova; a brother-in-law: Joseph Dretta II; a sister: Evelyn (Mick) Taitner; a granddaughter: Arissa Bova Ball; a grandson: Clinton Thomas Ball; and a great-granddaughter: Kioni Shores.
Services were held Oct. 10 at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, officiated by Bishop Ron Luellen. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Charles. Memorials may be made to St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, De Soto.
