Fern Catherine Bone, 91, Crystal City
Fern Catherine Bone, 91, of Crystal City died Jan. 18, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Bone was a teller for UMB Bank in Arnold and had worked for PPG in Crystal City, Rudloff’s Market and De Gee’s Bi-Rite. She enjoyed supporting baseball coaches and players at American Legion 253 and Jefferson College. Born July 5, 1930, in Kimmswick, she was the daughter of the late Amelia (Ehlers) and John Herrell.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Ronald P. Bone.
She is survived by a son: Patrick (Patricia) Bone of Crystal City; two daughters: Janice Linek of Temple City, Calif., and Judith Baltazar of south St. Louis County; three brothers: Thomas (Adelaide) Herrell of Imperial, Gene (Patty) Herrell of Union and Joseph (the late Kathy) Herrell of Imperial; six grandchildren: Zachary (Carli) Bone, Logan (Allison) Bone, Jennifer (Christopher Crabbe) Trujillo, Lori (Stevie) Martin, Jill Ruess and Christopher (Dawn) Baltazar; six great-grandchildren: Marin Bone, Eliana Trujillo, Alexis Martin, Cruz Martin, Grayson Baltazar and Quinn Baltazar; and many other family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers: Melvin (the late Annalee) Herrell, Norville (the late Dorothy) Herrell, Warren (the late Gee Gee) Herrell, Bob (the late Eileen) Herrell, Ronald (Dee of Imperial) Herrell and Vernon Herrell.
A graveside service will be at 10:15 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 20) at the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks, with the Rev. Tish Green officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Legion 253 baseball program. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
