Jaxon Menner, a freshman at Seckman High School, has died, his mother, Danielle Menner, announced today, Feb. 6, on the Facebook page “Jax’s Journey,” which is dedicated to her son’s battle with cancer.
“Friday, February 6, 2026 @ 11:39 am Jaxon took his last breath,” Danielle wrote. “He passed quickly and peacefully surrounded by family. Please respect our time in the coming days. We will post arrangements at a later date.”
Danielle, 46, previously told the Leader that Jaxon was diagnosed with Pre B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia on July 8, 2013, before he was 3.
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow and is the most common form of pediatric cancer. ALL affects white blood cells called lymphocytes, which fight infection and help protect the body against disease, according to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s website, together.stjude.org.
The Seckman High Letterman’s Club has been holding a shoe drive to raise money for the family of Jaxon, 15. The shoes will go to an organization called Funds2Orgs, which pays collecting organizations for gently used or new shoes.
The drive, called “Miles for Menner,” started Jan. 12, but kicked into high gear Jan. 16 during Seckman High’s winter sports assembly when the student body was challenged to collect as many shoes as possible by Jan. 30.
On Jan. 16, Seckman High business education teacher Becky Alden, who is one of the Letterman’s Club sponsors, said in addition to Seckman High, nine other Fox C-6 School District schools, nine homeowner associations and 19 businesses and organizations in Jefferson County and Oakville were holding collections.
Owen Howell, a Seckman High junior and a student ambassador to the Fox C-6 Board of Education, told the board on Feb. 3 that more than 17,000 shoes had been collected through the “Miles for Menner” campaign.
The “Miles for Menner” shoe drive will be held through Feb. 25.
Alden said groups may earn up to 50 cents per pound for the shoes, depending on how much is collected. The Fund2Orgs website says the company has paid more than $19 million to its fundraising partners.
“This will help us out if I have to take leave from work as well as medical bills and other expenses,” Danielle, a second-grade teacher at Clyde Hamrick Elementary School in the Fox district, said on Jan. 16.
A GoFundMe page called “Jax’s Journey of Strength and Light” was created on Jan. 1 and had raised $30,676 for the family as of today, Feb. 6.
