Fealie “Vern” Hamelback, 72, of Ste Genevieve, formerly of the St. Louis area, died May 1, 2021, at Riverview at the Park in Ste. Genevieve. Mr. Hamelback worked in sales and management with Custom Fabricating Co. in St. Louis. He was a member of the Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church on a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus with Knights of Columbus Council 1037 in Ste. Genevieve. He loved fishing, hunting and camping. Born Aug. 3, 1948, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Melba Eileen (Martin) and Fealie Vernon Hamelback Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years: Bobby J. Turner Hamelback, whom he married Jan. 1, 1980; a son: Stephen (Rebecca) Hamelback of Bismarck; three daughters: Alicia (Brett) Cavanaugh of Ste. Genevieve, Jennifer (Paul) Robinson of Richmond, Va., and Margaret (James) Sieve of Hazelwood; two sisters: Carolyn Sue (Richard Maples) Nabors of Farmington and Sheila (Vic) McIntyre of Bismarck; and a brother: Brian (Sherry) Hamelback of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Pamela Hamelback; and a brother: Charles “Danny” Lashley.
Visitation is scheduled from 10-10:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church, 49 Dubourg Place, in Ste. Genevieve. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Edward Nemeth. Burial is in the Valle Springs Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
