Everett D. Scheffler, 88, of Festus died Feb. 10, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Scheffler was a retired maintenance supervisor with the Army National Guard, having served at Jefferson Barracks and the 220th Engineering Company in Jefferson County. He was a member and deacon of Ketha Heights Baptist Church. Born Feb. 8, 1934, in Piggott, Ark., he was the son of the late Dovie (Crick) and Edward Scheffler. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Carlene (Featherston) Scheffler.
He is survived by his second wife: Florence (Conner) Emry-Scheffler of Herculaneum: two sons: Charles Scheffler of Atlanta, Ga., and Al (Nancy) Scheffler of Festus; a daughter: Becky (Robert) Klassen of Omaha, Ark.; a sister: Lucille (the late Rex) Cate of Piggot, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Alma (the late James) English and Velma (the late Clifford) Hollis; and two brothers: Edward (Jean survives of Piggott, Ark.) Scheffler Jr and Paul (the late Faye) Scheffler.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the Piggott Cemetery, S. Houston Ave., in Piggott, Ark., officiated by Pastor Greg Booher and the Rev. Randy Casey. Memorials may be made to Ketha Heights Baptist Church, 3479 Frontier Road, Festus, 63028. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
