Ethel “Caroline” (Dean) Hoffman, 89, of O’Fallon died Sept. 22, 2022. Mrs. Hoffman went to St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing and became a registered nurse in 1954. She finished her career as a school nurse, working for 18 years in the Pattonville School District in St. Louis County. Born Sept. 25, 1932, in Festus, she was the daughter of the late Irma (Matthews) and James Lester Dean.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Benjamin “Perry” Hoffman; three children: Ann (Tim) Geiler of Dardenne Prairie, Benjamin (Julie) Hoffman of Richmond Heights and Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman of Bridgeton; a grandson: Jesse Geiler; and a brother: David (Virginia) Dean of Livermore, Calif. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Neil (Mildred) Dean and Colonel Robert (Margaret) Dean.
Funeral services were private. Burial was in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to St. Louis Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
