Erick J. Schmitz, 73, of Pevely died Jan. 18, 2020, at his home. Mr. Schmitz worked in refrigeration for Crane Industries. He served in the U.S. Army and was an elder of the Community of Christ Church. He was born Aug. 30, 1946, in St. Louis.
He is survived by his wife: Deborah (Skelton) Schmitz; a son: Paul (Alexis) Schmitz of St. Louis; two daughters: Erin Parsons of Fenton and Brea Anne (James) Pikula; four grandchildren: Lauren, Morgan, Evie and Felix; a sister: Suzanne McGowan of St. Louis; and a sister-in-law: Linda Schmitz.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Kurt Schmitz.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Community of Christ Church, 2315 Lonedell Road, in Arnold. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or Outreach International. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home.
