Hearst, Elmer

Elmer Patrick “Pat” Hearst Sr., 84, of Barnhart died April 23, 2021, at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton. Mr. Hearst was a retired supervisor for National Vendor and a member of Windsor Baptist Church in Imperial. He was active with the Lions Club and Boy Scouts and enjoyed woodworking, leatherworking, hunting, fishing and spending his free time tinkering in the garage. He was born March 17, 1937, in Barnhart, the son of the late Mable (Frye) and Everett Hearst.

He is survived by his wife: Charlotte (Mercer) Hearst; three sons: Elmer Patrick (Sandra) Hearst Jr. of De Soto, Howard (Laura) Hearst of Barnhart and Scott (Cynthia) Hearst of Barnhart; a

Daughter: Pamela Ann (Russell) Hagen of Barnhart; two sisters: Verneita (the late Joseph) Ryan of Maine and Velma (the late Jerry) Dawkins of Herculaneum; 16 grandchildren: April (Kevin) Hawk, Sandra (Dennis) Kobermann, Laci (Jorge) Pedraza, Elmer Patrick (Jenna) Hearst III, Sara (Bill) Sucharski, William (Amelia Banks) Wilmering, Laura ( Kevin) Lee, Christopher (Mallorie) Wilmering, DJ (Holli) Griffaw, Heather (Ray Jordan) Hearst, Christy (Kevin) Stone, Hannah (Collin Besermin) Hearst, Katie (Marvin) Whitefield, Scottie (Katie) Hearst, Tyler (Marah) Hearst and Heidi Hearst; 38 great-grandchildren: Kylie and Jason Hawk, Bailey, Maddy and Austin Kobermann, Michael, Emma and Violet Pedraza, Audrianna, Isabella, Lydia and Barrett Hearst, Grant, Chase and Emma Sucharski, Charlie, Layla, Lilly, Landon, Evvie, Eliza and Theo Wilmering, Christian, Kayla, Mike, Chelsey and Kelsey Lee, Robert Best, Mary, Colleen, Victoria and Olivia Griffaw, Paisley Jordan, Peyton, Ella, Charlotte, Harrison and Sterling Hearst; one great-great-grandson: Benson Freeman; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Charles “Buck” (the late Evelyn) Hearst, Everett (the late Hermina) Hearst and Emmett (the late Donna) Hearst; and a sister: Vergie (the late Charles) Schierhoff.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 29, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Dale M. Hearst of Westview Missionary Baptist Church in Jefferson City. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
