Ellis “Charlie” Lovell, 77, of De Soto died May 14, 2020, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Mr. Lovell worked for the nuclear fuel plant in Hematite for 48 years. He was a fisherman, hunter, marksman and outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Born Sept. 17, 1942, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Martinetta (Ellis) Purdy and Carl Lovell.
He is survived by his wife: Suzanne (Wynn) Lovell; two sons: Kenneth Lovell of De Soto and Robert (Shelly) Lovell of O’Fallon; a daughter: Kimberly (Matt) Wicks of St. Charles; five grandchildren: Abbey, Nick and Ethan (Marianna) Lovell and Sara and Ben Wicks; two great-grandchildren: Damon and Aria Lovell; a sister: Latty (Phil) Wells of Dellwood; a brother: Gary (Kathy) Purdy of Pevely; and a brother-in-law: Mark Ayers of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by a stepfather: Lyle Purdy; a sister: Barbara Ayers; and a brother: David (the late Marian) Lovell.
Services were private. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
