Edward Louis Holt, 81, of Festus died July 8, 2020, at his home. Mr. Holt was a retired over-the-road truck driver for Knight Transportation and American Trucking and a lifelong member of the Teamsters Union. He was a Vietnam-era veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of American Legion Post 253. Born March 3, 1939, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Helen (Miller) and Edward L. Holt. He was preceded in death by two wives: Carolyn (Bange) Holt and Darline (Griffith) Menke Holt.
He is survived by two daughters: Mary Mason of Florida and Marolyn Holt of Farmington; four stepchildren: Christine (Rod Austin) Sproull of Festus, Sandie (Steve) Wren of Herculaneum, Ron (Vilma) Lynch of the Philippines and Jim (Sandy) Menke III of Festus; four grandchildren: Desiree Nicole (Robert) Donovan, Destiny Lynn Key, Scott Edward (Kayla) Williams and Marissa Marie Williams; and two great-grandchildren: Harper and Andrew Donovan.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Betty L. (the late John) Allen; and a daughter: Bonnie Holt.
Visitation is at 10 a.m. and a funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Terry Crank. Burial with full military honors is in Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 253 in Festus. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
