Earl Eugene Johnston, 73, of De Soto died Nov. 16, 2019, at his home. Mr. Johnston was a carpenter and worked with his brother at Wes Johnston Contracting. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, barbecuing and spending time with family and friends. Born July 24, 1946, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Alice (Ohms) and Carl Johnston.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Rita Fay (Bourisaw) Johnston; a son: David (Jennifer) Johnston of Festus; a daughter: Lisa Braddy; four grandchildren: Brianna Oliver, Zane Braddy, Alexis Shoults and Adelynn Johnston; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Carl Johnston Jr., Wes Johnston and Ronnie Johnston; and a son-in-law: Stephen Braddy.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 Main St., in De Soto. Funeral Mass will be at10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 504 S. Third St., in De Soto, officiated by Father Alexander Anderson. Burial will be at Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
