Dorothy Mae Scarlett, 76, of De Soto died Sept. 14, 2015, at Hillcrest Care Center in De Soto. Mrs. Scarlett was a hairdresser and the owner of Dorothy’s Salon. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in De Soto and enjoyed gardening and working. Born March 29, 1939, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Della (Barnes) Hileman and Raymond Hileman. She was preceded in death by her husband: Carl Scarlett.
She is survived by four daughters: Pat (Alan) Mecey of Puxico, Judy (Gary) Heffron of De Soto, Elaine (Richard) Stenger of Florida and Debbie (Mike) Cloonan of Elgin, Ill.; two brothers: David (Beverly) Pendergrass of Indiana and Randy Hileman; two sisters: Gwen Reagan of Carlyle Lake, Ill., and Eleanor (J.C.) Csolak of Eldon; eight grandchildren: Julie, Michelle, Rachel, Michael, Erin, Shane, Jason and Sara; and 10 great-grandchildren: Matthew, Jake, Lauren, Richie, Paige, Ethan, Addison, Amber, Max and Kayden.
She was preceded in death by a brother: William Hileman; and a sister: Darlene Lewis.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the funeral home, officiated by Father Alexander Anderson. Burial is in the Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in De Soto.
