Dorothy J. “Betty” (Simmons) Gibson, 84, of Farmington, formerly of Imperial, died May 1, 2016. Mrs. Gibson worked many years at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis County and was a member of the Eastern Star. She was born Sept. 12, 1931, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Raymond and Margie (Montgomery) Simmons.

She is survived by four sons: Steven (Debbra) Roberts of Alanson, Mich., David (Linda) Roberts of St. Louis, Kevin (Karla) Gibson of Arcadia and Mark (Sharon) Gibson of Foristell; special niece Naomi (John) Emrich of Mississippi; special family friend Kerry Hatcher; 11 grandchildren: Amber Roberts of East Jordan, Mich.; Arin (Dane) Ostroske of Cheboygan, Mich.; Michael (Katie) Crites of Farmington; Elizabeth (Jeremy) Summers of Doe Run; Brittany Crites of Farmington; Tiffany Crites of Doe Run; David (Angie) Arnold of Hillsboro; Jerry (Sarah) Arnold of Hillsboro; Nicholas Gibson of Arkansas; Jennifer Gibson of Little Rock, Ark.; and Brandon Gibson of Foristell; 13 great-grandchildren: Kami Smith of East Jordan, Hayley and Madison Crites of Farmington, Tylor Kennon and Kaylen Summers of Doe Run, Tanner and Tucker Crites of Farmington, Lynnsey and Alice Crites of Doe Run, Brandon Arnold of Hillsboro and Kayla, Junior and Haylee Arnold of Hillsboro; a sister-in-law: Donna (Jackie) Simmons-Hyde; and two nephews: Donald (Sandi) Simmons and Brian (Brenda) Simmons.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: James Simmons, Ronald (Dale) Simmons and Robert (Don) Simmons; a sister-in-law: Carol Simmons; and a nephew: Dan Simmons.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Road, in St. Louis County. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, at St. Matthews Cemetery, 4360 Bates Ave., in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to the Senior Independence Hospice of Mid-America. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home.
