Adams-Winheim, Doris

Doris (Casteel) Adams-Winheim, 90, of Hillsboro died June 25, 2020, at her home. Mrs. Adams-Winheim was a member of the Annapolis Church of the Nazarene and the Starcraft Campers Club. She had traveled extensively throughout the world during her lifetime, particularly enjoying the cruises with her family, and enjoyed talking about all the places she had been to. Her passion was dancing, especially line dancing, and she spent many evenings and weekends with family and friends, dancing and laughing and enjoying life. She was born July 22, 1929, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Natella (Hampton) and Clarence T. Casteel Sr. She was preceded in death by her first husband: Roy G. Adams Sr., and her second husband: Alan M. Winheim.

She is survived by three sons: Roy G. (Theresa) Adams Jr. of Festus, Ricky D. (Ann) Adams of Hillsboro and Chris R. (Marsha) Adams of Festus; , two stepchildren: Mark (Louis) Winheim of Virginia and Gail (James) Risse of St. Louis; a brother: the Rev. Howard Casteel; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Clarence “Junior” Casteel; and four sisters: Betty Wood, Thelma Warnacke, Hilda Brewer and Freda Atkinson.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 29, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main St., in De Soto. Visitation is at 9 a.m. until a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, at the funeral home, officiated by the Reverend Howard Casteel. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Annapolis Church of the Nazarene, 201 2nd St., Annapolis, 63620. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
