Donnell Guy “Don” Horn, 62, of Hillsboro died May 25, 2021, in Hillsboro. Mr. Horn graduated from Moberly High School and worked in construction for many years. He then transitioned into education, teaching and coaching high school football for the Hillsboro R-3 School District as well as Little League football. Born May 17, 1959, in Sabetha, Kan., he was the son of the late Donnell C. and Ona Glee (Schearer) Horn. He was preceded in death by his wife: Dawn Raylene (Everett) Horn.
He is survived by two daughters: Jennifer (Adam) Horn of Hillsboro and Kelsey L. (Tyler) Horn of De Soto; a son: Donnell (Stacey) Horn of Hillsboro; a grandson: Colt Russell of Hillsboro; three granddaughters: Maggie Russell, Aliyah Horn and Jillian Cornman, all of Hillsboro; and two sisters: Gina (Cheryl) Altilo of Murphy, N.C., and Susan (Jon) Schroeter of Troy.
A memorial gathering will be held from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at the Hillsboro Community Center at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 10349 Business 21, in Hillsboro, followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Hillsboro R-3 Touchdown Club. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
