Delmar Otto Hunning, 86, of Springfield, formerly of Des Peres, died Feb. 15, 2020, at his home. Mr. Hunning was a retired machinist from Owens-Illinois Plastic Products and a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member, former trustee and Sunday school teacher at Geyer Road Baptist Church in Kirkwood. Born April, 9, 1933, in Ware, he was the son of the late Otto and Bertha Mae (Rogers) Hunning. He was preceded in death by three wives: Shirley Mae (Ogle) Hunning, Florence (Diamond) Wulfert Hunning and Genevieve (Jones) Nichols Hunning.
He is survived by a daughter: Linda (Randy) Underwood of Springfield; a son: Danny Lee Hunning; a sister: Bertha Mae (Hunning) Alderson; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Ina (the late Lee) Glock and Dorothy (George) Gass.
Visitation is at 10 a.m. and a funeral service will be at noon Thursday, Feb. 20, at Geyer Road Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Ed Plants. Burial with full military honors will follow in Oakland Baptist Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to Battlefield First Baptist Church, 5010 S. FF Highway, Battlefield, 65619; or to Geyer Road Baptist Church, 504 S. Geyer Road, Kirkwood, 63122, in support of local and international missions. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
