Delma R. Hays, 59, of Park Hills died Jan. 11, 2019, at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur. Mrs. Hays was a registered nurse at Hillsboro Primary School. Born May 4, 1959, in Festus, she was the daughter of Pearl (Gene) Copeland Frost of De Soto and the late Darrell Gwaltney Sr.
In addition to her mother and stepfather, she is survived by her husband: Stephen “Steve” Hays; five children: Mark Finocchiaro Jr. of Independence, Tiffany (Kevin) Driskell of St. Louis, James (Nicki) Hays of St. Charles, Kevin (Dani) Hays of De Soto and Laura (Robby) Haynes of Park Hills; three siblings: the Rev. Dr. Darrell (Donna) Gwaltney of Brentwood, Tenn., Albert (Robin English) Gwaltney of De Soto and Sammi Cullison of Jonesboro, Ark.; seven grandchildren: Kailey, Grace, Brayden, Thatcher, Connor, Leo and Lily; and numerous family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by five grandparents: Joseph Copeland, Hilda Boyer, Lorn Gwaltney, Mary Gwaltney and Dorothy Romaine Owens.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Darrell Gwaltney. Burial will be in Luckey Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, American Heart Association or the ALS Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
