Terry, Dean

Dean A. Terry, 69, of Hillsboro died Jan. 7, 2017, at his home. Mr. Terry was a delivery driver for Pepsi for 20 years, then began training quarter horses full time. He operated Dean Terry Quarter Horses, training, showing, and trading horses throughout the country.

He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the American Cutting Horse Association, Knights of Columbus Council 1185 and Elks Lodge 689. Born July 15, 1948, in De Soto, he was the son of Joan (Redfield) Terry of De Soto and the late Robert “Bob” Terry.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife: Judith “Judie” (Koch) Terry of Hillsboro; three children: Cody Terry of De Soto, Deana (Chris) Roland of Hillsboro and Travis Terry of De Soto; two siblings: David Terry of Valles Mines and Kathleen Ann “Kathy” Terry of Kansas City; and four grandchildren: Julia Terry, Aiden Roland, Halle Roland and Evie Roland.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert “Bobby” Terry Jr. and Gary Terry.

A celebration of life is scheduled at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, on the upper level of the Knights of Columbus Hall, 13225 State Road E, in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
