David Roy Shell, 72, of Sterling Heights, Mich., formerly of Festus, died Nov. 30, 2021, in Sterling Heights. Mr. Shell grew up in Festus, was a 1967 graduate of Festus High School and attended Jefferson College. He was retired from Chrysler after relocating to Detroit in 1992. He enjoyed fishing and won several trophies and even a boat in bass fishing tournaments. Born March 19, 1949, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Marybelle (Hughes) and Silas Shell, former owners of Shell’s Market in Festus.
He is survived by a daughter: Elizabeth (Eric Sr.) Audet of Warren, Mich.; four grandchildren: Bradley, Jennifer, Joseph and Eric Audet Jr.; a brother: Rick Shell; and many other family members and friends.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to Living Springs Camp, PO Box 88, Festus, 63028. Arrangements are under the direction of Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home in Fraser, Mich.
