David L. Kent Sr., 69, of Pevely died April 10, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County. Mr. Kent worked for the Pevely Street Department and was retired from Coachman Homes in Herculaneum. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Radiant Life Church in Festus. Born March 1, 1949, in Murphysboro, Ill., he was the son of Mary (House) and Riley Kent of Festus.

He is survived by his wife: Darlene (Reece) Kent; two daughters: Lori A. (Timothy) Kernan of Barnhart and Julia L. Kent of Imperial; a son: David L. Kent Jr. of Festus; two sisters: Janet Hobson of De Soto and Nancy (John) Anders of De Soto; six grandchildren: Alicia, Justin, Jacob, Kylee, Isabella and Scarlet; a brother-in-law: Steve Lucas of De Soto; and five great-grandchildren: Jayden, Trenton, Ramona, Camden and Lennox.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Steven James Kent Sr.; and a sister: Christine Lucas.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, 9115 Commercial Blvd., Pevely, officiated by Pastor Randy Gray. Burial with full military honors at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Pevely. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
