Gurlin, David

David Alan Gurlin, 76, of Festus died March 17, 2019, at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton. Mr. Gurlin was retired from the maintenance department at the former River Cement plant south of Festus. He was a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Amvets Post 171. He also was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City and the Festus/Crystal City Conservation Club. Born Oct. 29, 1942, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Erna P. (nee Naes) and Alfred B. Gurlin.

He is survived by a son: Brian Gurlin of Festus; two daughters: Cherie DeWitt of Omaha, Neb. and Melissa (Brian) Loness of Festus; four grandchildren: Kaylee DeWitt, Zackary DeWitt, Dakota Loness and Kaitlyn Loness; two sisters: Shirley Perry of Herculaneum and Carol (Robert) Weber of Washington; three brothers: Charles (Joan) Gurlin of St. Louis, Don (Frances) Gurlin of Festus and Mike Gurlin of Festus; and his ex-wife: Sandra (Klug) Gurlin of Omaha.

Memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 22, at Our Lady Church in Festus. Burial with full military honors is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
