True, Daryl

Daryl Owensby True, 80, of Imperial died Jan. 31, 2022, at his home. Mr. True graduated from Waynesville High School in 1959 and served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant during the Vietnam War. During this time he married Carolyn Alford. Following his time in the Army, he worked at a number of jobs before founding True China, where he worked until he retired. He was a member of Mensa and loved learning, particularly about history, art and photography. He enjoyed stamps and puzzles and loved reading. Born March 5, 1941, in Urbana, he was the son of the late Bethel and Roy True. He was preceded in death by his wife: Macelia “Macy” Breithaupt True, whom he married on Sept. 18, 1987, in Webster Groves.

He is survived by two daughters: Danika (Tina) True and Sarah (Frank) True-Mulligan; two grandchildren: Claire Rose Mulligan and James Francis Mulligan; a sister: Avaline Harris; a brother: Bertram True; his caretaker: Lori Luke; and many other family members and friends.  He was preceded in death by a brother: Roy; and a sister: Chrystal Melton.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Butler Funeral Home, 407 E. Broadway St., in Bolivar, officiated by Pastor Gary Richards. Burial is in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery east of Bolivar with a following fellowship at Open Hearts United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to House of Hope, 1913 W. Broadway Suite C., Bolivar, 65613. Arrangements are under the direction of Butler Funeral Home.
