Darrell D. Lorenz, 68, of Festus died Dec. 29, 2019, at his home. Mr. Lorenz was an eighth-grade teacher for the Sikeston R-6 School District, and later he worked for 40 years as a financial adviser and insurance broker. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal City; a zone president of Lutheran Hour Ministries; a member of the Sikeston branch of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors; and a former assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 426 in Festus.
Born Nov. 14, 1951, in Perryville, he was the son of Berniece D. (Schlimpert) Lorenz of Jackson and the late Edgar R. Lorenz.
He is survived by his wife: Donna (Bridges) Lorenz; two sons: Dustin Lorenz of Abilene, Texas, and Devin Lorenz of Festus; a sister: Marsha (Jim) Buchheit of Longtown; a brother: Dwayne (Paula) Lorenz of Sikeston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held today, Jan. 3, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal City, officiated by pastors Kyle Castens and Jarold Rux. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Shawneetown. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Hour Ministries. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
