Darrel W. Girardier, 92, of De Soto died April 18, 2019, at St. Joe Manor in Bonne Terre. Mr. Girardier worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad and retired from the U.S. Post Office, for which he was a letter carrier in De Soto and a postmaster in Winfield. He also worked as a funeral director for Mahn Funeral Homes. He served in the Army in World War II. He was a deacon and member of the First Baptist Church De Soto and a 63-year member, past master s and past district deputy grand master of the De Soto Masonic Lodge 119. He was involved in Boy Scouts since 1963 and was a Scoutmaster of Troop 543 for 15 years, was awarded the Silver Beaver Award and the Vigil of Honor in the Order of the Arrow. Born June 14, 1926, in Morse Mill, he was the son of Bertha Whitworth and John F. Girardier.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years: Norma Lee (Hobson) Girardier.

He is survived by two daughters: Janice (Richard) Rogers of Arlington, Texas, and Mary Jo (Kenny) Leftridge of Bonne Terre; six grandchildren: Brenda (Chad) Allen of Bonne Terre, Tracey (David) Oder of Bonne Terre, Julee (Ed) Schnieders of Dallas, Sara (Jeff) Phillips of Henderson, Nev., Darrel (Amy) Girardier of Franklin, Tenn., and Robert (Emily) Girardier of Chesapeake, Va.; 20 great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law: Marty Girardier of Chesapeake; a sister: Carol (Elden) Lee of Dittmer; two sisters-in-law: Jean Hobson and Beverly Agers of De Soto; a brother-in-law: Jim Woolsey of North Branch, Mich; and friends Todd Mahn of Festus, Daniel Mahn of Festus and Cliff Copeland of De Soto.

He was preceded in death by a son: John F. Girardier; and three sisters: Wanda Toulouse, Oleta Gibbons and Helen Girardier.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main St., in De Soto. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Jim Owens and Todd Mahn. Burial will be in Peaceful Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gideons International. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
