Holt, Darline

Darline Menke Holt, 86, of Festus died March 15, 2020, at Scenic Nursing and Rehab Center in Herculaneum. Mrs. Holt was a retired receptionist at Denny’s Restaurant in Phoenix, Ariz., and a member of the American Legion Post 253 Ladies Auxiliary. Born Aug. 9, 1933, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Lillian (Huggins) Moore and Thomas DeCater Griffith.

She is survived by her husband: Edward Holt of Festus; two daughters: Christine (Rod Austin) Sproull of Festus and Sandie (Steve) Wren of Herculaneum; two sons: Ron (Vilma) Lynch of the Philippines and Jim (Sandy) Menke III of Festus; two stepdaughters: Mary Mason of Florida and Marolyn Holt of Farmington; a brother: David (the late Cathy) Griffith of St. Louis; two sisters: Shirley (the late Charle) Tyree of St. Louis and Sharon (the late Johnny) White of St. Louis; six grandchildren: Randy (Tina) Gaston, Ryan (Leigha) Gaston, Alison (Ryan) Roulston, Cindy Lynch, Chelsea (Skyler) Smith and Jimmy Menke IV; and six great-grandchildren: Maddie, Claire, Oliver, Savanna, Cason and Ella.

She was preceded in death by two husbands: Marvin Lynch and James G. Menke II; a brother: Thomas “Sonny” Griffith; and a son-in-law: Allen Sproull.

Visitation is at 10 a.m. until a funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 19, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by the Rev. Randy Casey. Burial is in the Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of Post 253. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
