Darline Ann Spink, 94, of Arnold died Jan. 19, 2023. She and her husband owned M & S Manufacturing. She was a selfless person, known as a servant leader to her community. She was involved with the Girl Scouts for 51 years and a longtime member of the Historical Society of Kimmswick, serving as its president for many years. She was a self-taught pianist, and loved to sing. She coached her daughter’s softball and volleyball teams. She and her huaband loved to host huge parties at their family farm, as well as traveling for business and leisure, especially to Colorado. Some of her hobbies included sewing, gardening, cooking and baking, and she was known to make all her children’s and grandchildren's birthday cakes. Born Oct. 26, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Estel and Veronica (Havlicek) Brooks. She was preceded in death by her husband: Stephen Spink.
She is survived by five children: Roberta (Darryl) Kuenzle, Sandra (Elmer) Hearst, Michael (Melissa) Spink, Scott (Carolyn) Spink and Kerri (Kenneth) Jones; 11 grandchildren: Sara (Bill) Sucharski, Laura (Kevin) Lee, William (Amelia) Wilmering, Christopher (Mallorie) Wilmering, April (Kevin) Hawk, Patrick Hearst, Sandy (Dennis) Kobermann, Laci (Jorge) Pedraza, James (Jennifer) Spink, Jonathon Spink and Collin Spink; 30 great-grandchildren; an aunt; and several caregivers: Barb Brannam, Sonya Brown and Stephanie Acey. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Stephanie Spink; a grandson: Cameron Spink; and two sisters: Catherine Borrok and Marilyn Darian.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Shepherd Hills Cemetery, 1925 Old State Road M., in Barnhart. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of St. Louis or to the Breast Cancer Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home.
