Daniel David Wernig, 81, of St. Louis died April 17, 2022, in St. Louis. Mr. Wernig was a project engineer. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961. Born Aug. 19, 1940, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late David and Olivia (Schenk) Wernig. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years: Elaine (Becker) Wernig.
He is survived by two children: Laura (Benjamin Null) of St. Louis and Darin Wernig of O’Fallon; a sibling: Kenneth R. Wernig of Beaumont, Texas; and two grandchildren: Brandon and Brycen, both of St. Louis.
A service will be held in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the U.S. Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Cypress Pointe Cremation.
