Kennedy, Dan

Daniel “Dan” Kennedy, 72, of Festus died June 25, 2016, at his home. Mr. Kennedy was a lineman for AmerenUE and a member of IBEW Local 1439. He was a member of the Festus/Crystal City Conservation Club and loved to hunt, fish and play on his computer. Born March 4, 1944, in Crystal City, he was the son of the late Verna Bernice (Wagster) and Roy Craig Kennedy.

He is survived by his wife: Mary Alice (McClenahan) Kennedy; two daughters: Teresa “Terri” (Paul) Farwig of St. Louis County and Holly (Alex Torres) Kennedy of St. Louis; two sons; Christopher “Chris” (Gay) Kennedy of Bloomsdale and Douglas “Doug” (Jeanette Gentzler) Kennedy of Festus; two brothers: Robert (Margie “Nell”) Kennedy of Viburnum and Larry (Peggy) Kennedy of Bloomsdale; a sister-in-law: Dorothy (Kevin) Gale of Festus; five brothers-in-law: Larry Robinson of Anchorage, Alaska, Michael (Darla) McClenahan of Festus, George (Arleen) McClenahan of Festus, Perry (Jane) McClenahan of Bloomsdale and Paul Brewer of California; six grandchildren: Jordan Compton, Sydney Compton, Shea Compton, Coletan (Page Wasson) Kennedy, Madison Kennedy and Sophie Kennedy; one great-grandchild: Mason Compton; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. Visitation is at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3551 Hwy. 61, south of Festus, officiated by the Rev. Karen Tutak. Burial is in the Danby Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
