Clifton W. “Cliff” Cooper, 95, of De Soto died June 9, 2015, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Cooper worked in the mechanical department at Union Pacific Railroad and was an agent for American Family Insurance. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in De Soto. Born Nov. 29, 1919, in Poplar Bluff, he was the son of the late Elmer and Virgie (Jones) Cooper. He was preceded in death by his wife: Verna (Pillen) Cooper
He is survived by five siblings: Mabel Clendenin of Cape Girardeau, Jewel Webb of Springfield, Barbara Strader of Selma, Ore., Jerry (Almeda) Cooper of Conyers, Ga., and Jack (Grace) Cooper of Duncanville, Texas; a sister-in-law: Aviral Cooper of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held June 12 at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Brother Wayne Gibson. Burial was in the Grubville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 1215 Boyd Street, De Soto, 63020; or to the American Heart Association, 316 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
