Clarine Elizabeth Clayton, 91, of Herculaneum died Dec. 16, 2021, at Courtyard Estates in Bushnell, Ill. Mrs. Clayton was a telephone operator and assignment clerk with the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Festus and the SWB Telephone Pioneers. Born June 22, 1930, in Caruthersville, she was the daughter of the late Bertha (Wyatt) and Carmel Hepler.
She was preceded in death by her husband: J.C. Clayton.
She is survived by a son: Ken Clayton; and a granddaughter: Ashley Clayton.
She was preceded in death by five siblings: Thomas (Phyllis) Hepler, David Hepler, Carmel Hepler Jr., Egbert Hepler and Dorthey Carter.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at First Christian Church, 415 N. Mill St., in Festus.
