Charles R. “Chuck” Vance, 73, of De Soto died Jan. 4, 2015, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Vance was a 1959 graduate of De Soto High School. He worked until retirement as a journeyman meat cutter and was a member of Meat Cutters Local 88 and United Food and Commercial Workers Local 655. Born Dec. 23, 1941, in Vineland, he was the son of the late Sylvia Marie (Maloney) and Raphel Chester “R.C.” Vance.
He is survived by his wife: June Elaine (Aders) Vance; two sons: Rick (Jane) Vance of Festus and Scott (Tammy Bandy) Vance of De Soto; a sister: Bonnie Rhyneer of Festus; a brother: Ron (Cheryl) Vance of Caldonia; and seven grandchildren: Ashley, Dakota, Kassidy, Katie, Chris, Nathan and Dylan. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Angela Vance; a son: David Vance; and a brother-in-law: David Rhyneer.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. and funeral services at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Randy Casey. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
