Charles “Pooney” Gibson, 72, of Osage Beach, formerly of Festus, died March 13, 2022, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. Mr. Gibson was a U.S. Army veteran and a popular and respected longtime educator. He served as teacher, coach and principal at several schools, having an impact on countless students and players. After retirement, he enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, traveling with his family and hosting an annual “Poonfest” extravaganza with his lifelong buddies. He was born May 19, 1949, in Missouri, the son of the late Charles and Kathryn (Sheldon) Gibson.
He was a beloved brother, uncle, and cousin to many in the Gibson and Sheldon families.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. until a funeral service at 7 p.m. Friday, March 18, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Private burial is in the Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
