Charles Damon “Beanie” Downs Sr., 82, of Imperial died March 10, 2021, at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton. Mr. Downs was a retired punch press machine operator for White-Rodgers in St. Louis. He was born Jan. 2, 1939, in Kennett, the son of the late Vestal (Richie) and Wiley Downs. He was preceded in death by his wife: Shirley Mae (Quick) Downs.

He is survived by two sons: David “Dave” (Tina) Downs Sr. of Hillsboro and Mark (April Fischer) Downs of Festus; a daughter-in-law: Sharon Downs; two brothers: Harlen (Linda) Downs of Wappapello and Ernest Downs of Dexter; a sister: Joyce (the late Hank) Crawley of Lake St. Louis; a sister-in-law: Linda Downs; eight grandchildren: David (Jill) Downs Jr., Tiffany (Jared) Joyce, Krista (Jake) Seiler, Nicholas Downs, Emily Downs, Alyssa Fischer, Ryan Fischer and Tyler Fischer; six great-grandchildren: Mia Downs, Aiden Downs, Paisley Downs, Kaiya Leathers, Sophia Seiler and Jack Seiler; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son: Charles “Chuck” Downs Jr.; a daughter: Kimberly Downs; a sister: Gloria (the late Bob) Hall; and a brother: Danny Downs.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at noon Tuesday, March 16, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main., in Festus. Burial is in the Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart.  Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 7745 Carondelet Ave., UNIT 305, Clayton, 63105. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
