Catherine “Kate” Merseal, 76, of De Soto died Dec. 14, 2017, at her home in De Soto. Mrs. Merseal worked as a cafeteria manager for the De Soto School District and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in De Soto. She enjoyed camping, trout fishing and singing. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially having them for dinners at her house. Born April 13, 1941, in Old Mines, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Mary (Pusczak) Sansoucie.
She is survived by her husband: Daley Merseal of De Soto; three sons: Jr. Merseal of De Soto, Mike (Kim) Merseal of De Soto and Jeff (Angie) Merseal of Festus; one daughter: Pam (Jeff) Bailey of De Soto; three sisters: Liz Reed of Hillsboro, Pat (Bob) Staggs of De Soto and Sharon (Larry) Bax of Dittmer; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one brother-in-law: Pete Reed; and one granddaughter: Mya.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Mahn De Soto Chapel, 900 N. Main St., De Soto. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 504 S. Third St., De Soto, officiated by Father Alex Anderson. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, De Soto.
