Carolyn Jane (Powell) Eaton, 76, of House Springs, died Nov. 11, 2020, in House Springs. Mrs. Eaton ran the office of the family business, Eaton Custom Carpet Service Inc., for 30 years. A devoted wife and mother, she was an excellent cook, an avid reader and had an amazing green thumb. She loved to travel, crochet and sew, and formerly belonged to the local CB Club and the White Oaks Bowling League. She and her husband encouraged community involvement and followed their kids and grandkids in the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H Horsemanship, Meramec football, NWAA softball, and Northwest School District football, band, ice hockey and cross country. She never knew a stranger and had the gift of gab. Born Dec. 7, 1943, in Marquand, she was the daughter of the late Jake and Anne (Cook) Powell.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years: Douglas Eaton, whom she married on Nov. 12, 1959; three children: Sandra (Curtis) Baumgarth of Catawissa, Shelley (Vincent) Amato of Triangle, Va., and Stephen (Susan Frazier) Eaton of House Springs; 10 grandchildren: Chelsey (Steve) Allen of Catawissa, Colten Baumgarth of Catawissa, Steven Amato of Florida, Ryan (Tia Renzulli) Moyer of Kentucky, Chris Amato of Georgia, Dylan Moyer of Virginia, Dustyn Moyer of Virginia, Samuel Eaton of House Springs, Sydney Eaton of House Springs and Alexis Frazier of House Springs; three great-grandchildren: Sawyer Allen, Sutton Allen and Stella Moyer; two sisters: Elaine (Richard) Martin and Benita (James) Austin, both of St. Louis; and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Stanley Powell and Robert Powell.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30 , in Cedar Hill. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, 63132. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
