Carl Monroe Griffith, 80, of House Spring died Feb. 16, 2017 at his home. Mr. Griffith was a member of First Baptist Church of House Springs. He was a mission volunteer and was instrumental in building churches in Belarus. He was a previous member of the R-1 School board, a trustee at Missouri Baptist College and was the construction manager for the Northwest High School. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and reading. Born Feb. 19, 1936, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Miller) Griffith.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Polly Griffith of House Springs; three daughters: Diane (John) Topliffe of Columbia, Ill.; Brenda (Bill) Parkhurst of Perryville and Carla Griffith of Cedar Hill; seventeen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; five siblings: Jerry (Josie) Griffith of Kurtistown, Hawaii, Curtis (Shiamo Jing) Griffith of Lebanon, Ill., Joyce (Calvin) Bandy of Sullivan, Nancy (Tony) LaValle of Sullivan and James (Etsuko) Griffith of House Springs; a special daughter of the heart: Yuliya (Maamoun) Hussayrami of Chicago, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19 at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30 in Cedar Hill. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 20 at First Baptist Church in House Springs, 4375 Gravois Road, House Springs. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1867 Lackland Hill Parkway, St. Louis. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
