Carl Joe Harper, 79, of House Springs died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021. He retired from Chrysler after 34 years and was a member of UAW local 110. He also worked after retirement for Lowes for 12 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War and was a lifetime member of the VFW.
Mr. Harper was born Nov. 7, 1942, in Mine La Motte, son of the late Carl E. and Lilly Pearl (Stacy) Harper.
After retirement, he spent much of his time with his stepchildren. He loved being outdoors, going on walks, watching western and war movies, going to rodeos and following the PBR (Professional Bull Riders).
He is survived by his wife: Christine M. (Cosgrove) Harper; four stepchildren: David P. Bonskowski; Laura R. Bonskowski; Michael J. Bonskowski; Lucas R. Bonskowski; one sister: Carolyn S. Tripp of Farmington; two nephews: Mark Tripp and Jeff (Missie) Tripp; a niece: Tammy (Mike) Hayes; two step-grandchildren: Lucy R. Finley and Nora J. Finley; his great friend Ron Luaders; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; other family members and friends.
Private funeral services were Dec. 16, followed by burial in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors or Camp Rainbow. Arrangements were under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home, Affton Chapel.
