Brent Alan Patzner, 48, of De Soto died May 19, 2018, in Herculaneum. Mr. Patzner was a heavy equipment operator for McFry Excavating Inc. and a member of IUOE Local 513. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in De Soto and a fourth-degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 1185 in De Soto. He played baseball for Barton County Community College and also attended Washburn University. Born Dec. 31, 1969, in Great Bend, Kan., he was the son of Mary Patricia “Pat” (Redding) and Joseph William Patzner Jr. of Joplin.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his companion: Kimberly Muzzey of De Soto; two children: Jake Patzner of De Soto and Shelby Yinger of Shippensburg, Pa.; a brother: Brad (Laura) Patzner of Great Bend, Kan.; a nephew: Matthew (Amy) Patzner of Great Bend; and one great-nephew: Kellen Patzner.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 24, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 504 S. Third St., in De Soto, officiated by Father Alexander Anderson. A second funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 26, at Immaculate Conception Church in Claflin, Kan., officiated by Father Terrance Klein, followed by burial in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Claflin. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
