Brenda “Joyce” Cheatham, 75, of Festus died Oct. 26, 2021, at de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis County. Mrs. Cheatham worked as a furniture manager for Big Lots. She enjoyed line dancing, teaching line dancing, crocheting, tending to her plants and flowers, crafting with her pictures and making jewelry. Born Dec. 16, 1945, in Lebanon, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Myrtle (Coleman) Missey. She was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas Cheatham.
She is survived by three children: Carrie (Don) Brod of Hillsboro, Tim (Dawn) Griffin of Herculaneum and Pennie (Craig) Strother of Festus; three brothers: Roger Missey of St. Charles, Keith (Sharon) Missey of Blackwell and Kevin (Barb) Missey of Kentucky; two sisters: Faye (Benny) Merseal of Cadet and Patty (Jim) King of Texas; five grandchildren: Logan Griffin, Danielle “Dani” (Jordan) Hawn, Jordan Eggemeyer, Trevor Eggemeyer and Jesse Proffitt; two great-grandchildren: Hailee Hawn and Landon Eggemeyer; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Derrill Missey.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
