Duffner, Bonnie

Bonnie L. Duffner, 90, of De Soto died Jan. 20, 2017, at Hillcrest Care Center in De Soto. Mrs. Duffner graduated from De Soto High School during World War II and taught for more than 20 years at several schools, including Pevely Elementary and St. Rose of Lima School in De Soto, before retiring. Born July 18, 1926, in Valles Mines, she was the daughter of the late Jason and Margaret Eleanor (Guettler) Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband: Bernard William Duffner.

She is survived by two children: Tony Duffner of De Soto and William Duffner of De Soto; three grandchildren: Jason (Nikki) Duffner of Dallas, Texas; Gretchen Duffner of Chambersburg, Pa.; and Andrew (Amanda) Duffner of De Soto; and five great-grandchildren: Patrick, Max, Ella, Anderson and Aleah.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Hazel Hardin and Mae Manos; and a foster brother: Leonard “Jim” Jackson.

A funeral service was held Jan. 23 at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto, officiated by Jimmie Turner. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to St. Rose of Lima Adopt-An-Angel. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
