Bonnie C. Davenport, 76, of Festus died Jan. 2, 2017, at Scenic Nursing and Rehabilitation in Herculaneum. Mr. Davenport was a retired teacher, coach and principal with the Festus R-6 School District. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Festus and a member of MSTA and the Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association. Born Nov. 27, 1940, in Poplar Bluff, he was the son of the late Mildred (Bullerman) and Irvin W. Davenport.
He is survived by his wife: Beverly (Snyder) Davenport; two daughters: Christi (Charles) Martin of Festus and Jennifer (Jason) Gillam of Festus; two sisters: JoAnn (the late Skip) Cornelius of Fullerton, Calif. and Joy Lynn (Richard) Ashbury of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother: Ivan Ellwood (Wanda) Davenport of Festus; a sister-in-law: Shirley Davenport of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren: Heather K. Martin, Trey Martin, Luke Gillam and Olivia Gillam; and one great-grandson: Chase Martin. He was preceded in death by a brother: Irvin W. Davenport.
Visitation is scheduled from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. Visitation is at 9 a.m. and a funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Wesley United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Karen Tutak. Burial is in the Presbyterian/Methodist Cemetery in Festus. Memorials may be made to the Bonnie Davenport Memorial Fund to assist the R-6 baseball and volleyball programs. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
