Vancil, Billie

Billie R. Vancil, 90, of Union died Aug. 26, 2022, at the Union Care Center. Mr. Vancil was a member of Teamsters Local 600. He was a member of Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church and a former member of First Free Will Baptist Church in De Soto. He also was a volunteer with the Helping Hands Ministry. Born July 9, 1932, in Malden, he was the son of the late James and Gerta (Taylor) Vancil.

He is survived by his wife: Margie (Brown) Vancil of Union;a son: Terry (Peggy) Vancil of Oro Valley, Ariz.; a son-in-law: Mark Bess of Eugene, Ore.; three stepchildren: Tammy (Bob) Crews of Union, Kelly Hurston of Bozeman, Mont., and Tina (Brian) Stuesse of Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchildren: Shelly Assali, Leslie Heverns, Tim Bess and Abby Bess; five great-grandchildren: Ryan, Ashley, Jacob, Alora and Brook; and two great-great-grandchildren: Jaxson and Bodhi. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Peggy Vancil; a daughter: Jacqueline “Sue” Bess; and nine siblings.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the funeral home, officiated by Brother Bob Thebeau and Brother Millard Sasser. Burial is in the Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
