Whitaker, Bill

Bill Whitaker, 84, of Cedar Hill died Oct. 14, 2015, at Marymount Manor in Eureka. Mr. Whitaker enjoyed playing music and had a passion for classic cars. He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Cedar Hill VFW and the Cedar Hill Elks Lodge. Born July 31, 1931, in Corning, Ark., he was the son of the late John and Zoma (Miller) Whitaker.

He is survived by two children: Gene (Fran) Whitaker Jr. of Webster Groves and Cecil (Sherry) Lynn Whitaker of Cedar Hill; five grandchildren: Jamie, Heather, Jacob, Matthew and Sunni; and a sister: Carolyn Mills of Jackson, Tenn. He was preceded in death by three siblings: Loudina Hong, Floyd Buffington and Richard Buffington.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Visitation is at 10 a.m. and a funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning, Ark. Burial is in the Black Cemetery in Palatka, Ark. Memorials may be made to the Cedar Hill VFW. Arrangements were under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
