Betty Jo (Clements) Brooks, 82, of House Springs died July 12, 2020. Mrs. Brooks was born July 28, 1937, in Elvins, the daughter of the late Albert and Edith (Duncan) Clements. She lived in Elvins and worked as a seamstress at the TrimFoot Factory in Farmington until moving to Otto briefly and then to House Springs, where she lived for more than 60 years. In later years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling, and she loved to visit casinos to play slot machines. She was a skilled cook and enjoyed making meals for family.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years: Knighten “Dale” Brooks, whom she married Dec. 12, 1954, in Hernando, Miss.; two children: Leanna (Tom) Brooks Kelly and Nancy Brooks, both of House Springs; a sister: Ruth (Bill) Hart of House Springs; two grandchildren: Jessica Kelly and Patrick Kelly, both of House Springs; and her “bonus family,” Tammy, Chris, Kyleigh, Cooper and Keira McCourt of St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by a cherished grandson: Michael Kelly; and a brother: Bucky Burch.
A memorial service was held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Imperial, officiated by the Rev. Martin Springer. Burial was in the Boss City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Kidney Foundation. Arrangements were under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home in south St. Louis County.
