Barbara Ann Amsden, 71, of Festus, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2017, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. She was a member of the VFW #3777 Auxiliary and the Festus-Crystal City Conservation Club. She was a long time cook for the Teamsters camp in Pevely, VFW #3777 and Festus Manor Nursing Center, and retired as a cake decorator from Wal-Mart in Festus. Born Oct. 10, 1945, in Little Rock, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Ethlene Jewel (Wimberly) and Evans Estes Jolly.
She is survived by one son: Gregory (Jen) Amsden of Bloomsdale; one daughter: Angela (Jacoby) Wesley of Festus; her longtime companion: Paul T. “Junior” Courtaway of Festus; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother: Aldwin (Shyrll survives of O’Fallon) Jolly; and one sister: Mary C. (the late Francis) Pratt.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1 at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main Street, Festus. Funeral services will follow immediately at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, the Rev. Cody Alley officiating. Memorials may be made to VFW #3777. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
