Augusta Theresa Werner, 99, of De Soto died Oct. 21, 2021, at Baisch Nursing Center in De Soto. Mrs. Werner was a registered nurse for 37 years, including 24 years at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, now Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart Quilters, the Daughters of Isabella, Wednesday Social Bowling League, the YMCA and she was a charter member of the Festus and Crystal City AARP. She enjoyed bingo, quilting, swimming and traveling. Born July 27, 1922, in Bloomsdale, she was the daughter of the late Gertrude (Drury) and Joseph B. Huck.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Leo W. Werner.
She is survived by five children: Wayne Werner of Villa Ridge, Keith Werner of Crystal City, Stacy (Tammy) Werner of De Soto, Deborah “Debbie” (Bryan) Crady of De Soto and Karen “Kay” (Pete) Ritcher of Asheville, N.C.; three siblings: Duane (Billie Jean) Huck, Darlene Huck and Marlene Huck; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Jane Werner; a great-granddaughter: Isabella Benoist; and eight siblings: Quintin Huck, Joseph Huck, Urban Huck, Aelred Huck, Eudoxia Stuhr, Agnes Smith, Adele Downs and Nadejda Kertz.
Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., Festus. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 Bailey Road, Crystal City, officiated by Father Matthew Cheruparambil. Burial is at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home Twin City Chapel, Festus.
